Investigation
Continues into January 13 Report of Police Impersonator
Fort Collins police are continuing
their investigation into the January 13 report
of a male who contacted a woman at her residence
in the 1200 block of Gaelic Place (northeast
Fort Collins) and identified himself as a Larimer
County Sheriff's Deputy.
The incident occurred on January
12, 2006 at approximately 12:45 p.m. The suspect
warned the woman of a serial rapist in the neighborhood
and urged her to lock her doors. He then asked
her for some personal information and asked
if she lived alone. When the victim contacted
Fort Collins Police the next day, she learned
there was no report of a serial rapist in the
area and that no law enforcement officer had
been to her home.
This is not a new incident.
Fort Collins police are continuing the investigation
into this case and are seeking information from
the public to help solve this crime.
The suspect is described as
approximately 30 years old, 5'9" tall with
dark brown hair, green eyes, a small mustache
and a square jaw. He was wearing a dark blue
uniform shirt with patches, dark blue pants,
a gold badge and a black "basket weave"
belt with a baton.
The woman described the suspect's
vehicle as a "sporty" mid-90's white
Chevrolet Camaro or Intrepid with blue and gold
stripes running along the length of the car.
The words "Larimer County Sheriff"
were printed on the side of the vehicle. The
car did not have a red and blue light bar mounted
on the top. The car may be an old police car.
